About the event
It was America’s Centennial year. A time when our relatively young nation was celebrating its technological achievements and national pride. When news reached the east of America’s premiere Indian fighter George Armstrong Custer and his elite 7th Cavalry defeat at the Little Bighorn at the hands of the Plains Indians it was the modern equivalent of Pearl Harbor and 9/11. On the minds of those who heard the news was “How could this happen?” The nation’s angry response was swift and unrelenting. Although Custer’s command was wiped out, the Battle of the Greasy Grass was high noon for the Plains Tribes.
